Our parent company is www.boatac.net. We install marine HVAC and other provide other custom marine solutions. We’ve replaced some fuel tanks, updated refrigeration and water systems as well. But, our specialty is marine HVAC.
Our founder, Eric Brown, acquired a Boston Whaler about a year ago. The boat was in decent shape, but the engine was running very poorly. After some diagnosis work and a ton of research, Eric figured out that the problem was with his fuel pump (it was either model 5004428 or model 5004429).
So, Eric started making phone calls and scouring the web for a replacement fuel pump. What he found was that the manufacturer had stopped making new ones and there were only second hand units available (often for a lot of $). Eric was seriously considering scrapping the motor and re-powering the boat.
Instead, he found some technically similar fuel pumps and invested time at a local machine shop trying to build a solution. After a bunch of prototypes and some trial and error, he was able to find the perfect combination of available parts and have the machine shop manufacture ultra-high quality marine-grade fittings so that the pump would fit on the existing fuel assembly.
